The Beauty of Baldwin Park

Posted by on Apr 9, 2015 in Blog | 0 comments

Baldwin Park, OrlandoYesterday I had the pleasure of catching up with a good friend I hadn’t seen in quite a while. We got got up-to-speed on each other’s lives by taking Colibri at Baldwin Parka leisurely stroll around Lake Baldwin in Baldwin Park, Orlando, FL. It’s a 2.5-mile trek around the lake and hands-down one of the prettiest places in Central Florida.

As you make your way around Harbor Park, you pass Fleet Peeples Park, which ironically isn’t necessarily for people but for dogs. They get to run around off-leash and even jump into the water if they want!

By the end of our walk we felt we deserved a reward, a drink and an appetizer to be exact. It was a tough decision when we got back to the Baldwin Park Village Center. One of my favorites style="padding:10px;"is Colibri Mexican Cuisine, right on the water with a fabulous view, extensive outdoor seating and they’re always playing some great music, providing an excellent casual vibe. But, we opted for another favorite, Seito Sushi. Although they didn’t have any vegetarian rolls listed on their menu, they were more than happy to make whatever I wanted. Wash it Yellow House at Baldwin Parkdown with a Sapporro or some hot sake and we were feeling the bliss! It was the perfect happy hour time in Florida, the sun coming down for the evening’s long shadows and cooling breezes, as we sat outdoors in the sidewalk cafe.

Baldwin Park is a great place to live. You’ll find single family homes with architecture reminiscent of times gone by, yet with modern floor plans and amenities. Garages are accessed by alleys behind the homes making for the pretty curb appeal. There are also condos, townhouses and more. The community is pedestrian-friendly, with wide sidewalks that lead to the stores, offices, and restaurants at The Baldwin Park Village Center.

The Maitland Art Center

Maitland Art Center PondI recently visited the Maitland Art Center, a part of Art and History Museums Maitland, and wanted to share with you some of the wonderful things you’ll find there.

Maitland Art CenterIf you’re anything like me, you’ll enjoy the art on display in the main gallery building. Right now there is a Salvador Dali exhibit, along with works by AndrĂ© Smith. I didn’t know much about AndrĂ© Smith, but he may just be my new favorite artist! His work echoes much of the surrealist style of Dali and also reminded me of MC Escher with his unusual stairways that go nowhere. Smith is the American architect/artist who in 1937 founded the artist colony that is now the Maitland Art Center. This Sunday is the last day to see the Dali exhibit, so make sure you go! Admission is only $3, you can’t beat that!

The DommerichsThe Maitland Art Center is only one part of the property. Right next door, there is also the little Maitland Historical Museum and right behind it the Telephone Museum. How interesting to read about the folks who made this great little town what it is. Maitland residents were pivotal in neighboring Eatonville’s incorporation as one of the first African American townships in the US. Perusing the museum, many names will jump out at you as you’ve probably seen their names in the local area. Find out who the Dommerichs were and how their philanthropy affected local education and avian conservation. Dommerich Hills is one of Maitland’s most sought-after communities along E. Horatio Ave./Howell Branch Rd.

To visit the Art and History Museums Maitland, set your GPS to 231 W. Packwood Avenue, Maitland, FL 32751. For more info, call (407) 539-2181 or visit their website.

Kewannee Park LakeThis site is for folks who are planning to move to Central Florida, to help you get to know some of my favorite areas. It’s also a great resource for people who have been living here and now are in need of real estate services.

In various stages of our lives our needs change and moving just makes sense. Often I see people who’ve had a baby and now need more space. Or couples who got married and want to merge households in a brand new place they can call their own. For folks considering selling, I always offer a free CMA (Comparative Market Analysis) to help determine the current value of your home. I’ll work with your timetable, to meet YOUR needs.

If you’ve been renting for a while, now is a great time to purchase real estate. Property values are slowly creeping back up, so buying now while prices are still relatively low is a good move. If you have some credit issues, you are not alone. At Watson Mortgage Corp., we can help guide you on ways to improve it or introduce you to a special program designed to get you into your own home.Maitland Art Center

Central Florida is truly a wonderful place to live. This month I’ll be featuring some of my favorite parts of Maitland, the town I reside in. It’s a town with great history, a thriving art community, and cool restaurants to visit. It’s right next to popular Winter Park, minutes away from the Altamonte Springs Mall, about an hour from the beach, and less than an hour away from downtown Orlando and Kissimmee’s tourist attractions.

Thanks for visiting my new website. Feel free to follow me on Facebook! If there is anything I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to call me at 407-236-6559 or email me.
